Peter Bishop

Peter comes from the wild west coast of New Zealand's South Island.
He is one of New Zealand's best known and most skilled master carvers and works mostly in the very rare and exotic flower Pounamu (New Zealand Jade) creating designs for jewelry and sculptures with an extraordinary aura of power and beauty.

Many of these special pieces are custom carvings with unique patterns in the jade that can not be repeated and therefore do not appear in our main catalogue. Some of the basic "design elements" may be repeated but the colour, pattern and texture of the special jades from which each is carved makes most pieces very unique.
Photographs shown on this page are of the actual pieces being offered.

Once each piece sells it will be removed from our site permanently.

Please Note - Some examples on the jade pages show the carvings with a degree of back lighting to illustrate their luminosity.
This is how they look when held up to a light so they may appear a darker shade of green when held in the hand or worn against the skin.

All carvings are supplied complete with a traditional style cord & bag.
Most cords are hand made from black waxed braid with a loop and bone toggle fitted. A woven flax presentation case and information on the meaning of the design is also included.
